I am with you

Moses, arguably the greatest leader that ever lived, was in the desert when he was famously called by God to lead the one million plus Israelites out of slavery.

To the unbelieving man, God said that he would give Moses a future sign that He was with him.

“I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.” Exodus 3:12

Six months later, after the plagues, the freeing of the Israelites from slavery, the parting of the Red Sea, Moses is led out of Egypt to the desert. Guess where?

After they set out from Rephidim, they entered the Desert of Sinai, and Israel camped there in the desert in front of the mountain. Exodus 19:2

Moses finds himself in front of Mount Sinai, the same mountain when he was called six months earlier. A worship service ensues as Moses and the Israelites come face to face with a holy God.

The prophecy was fulfilled as God had said. The truth was cemented before Moses.

He was with them.

A stat became popular a few years back. By the time your child graduates high school, you have already spent roughly 90% of all the in-person time you will ever have with them. Parents will not be with their children the majority of their life. But, the great truth of Scripture is that God will always be with them.

Spend the 90% of the time that you have with your kids before high school teaching them about the One that will be with them forever, every second, every minute, every hour, every day.

I am with you.

And, this is true for you and me.

One of the last things that Jesus said before He left earth, “I am with you always, even to the end of the world” (Mathew 28:20).

He is on His throne. He is with your children. He is with you.

This is one of the greatest truths to give us peace, comfort, confidence, to crush fear, to help us hold our head high, to give us hope.

In one of my darkest moments, when I didn’t have the words to pray, all I did was recite Matthew 28:20 over and over again in my mind. I was confused, the world was dark to me at that moment, I had little hope, but God gave me the one absolute truth that I needed to cling to at that moment.

I am with you.
