This 12-week small group study is built from the writings of Impact Others. Each week corresponds to one of the book's twelve chapters — a quality or characteristic that shapes how we lead, relate, and live.
Group guidelines
- What is shared in the room stays in the room. Confidentiality is the foundation of trust.
- Speak from your own experience. Everyone's journey and view is different.
- Sit with the discomfort. The questions are designed to be hard. That's where the growth is.
- Give everyone space to speak. The quieter voices often carry the most important perspectives.
- Consistency. The community built over 12 weeks is as valuable as any individual session.

Closing Session
Create your personal why
Twelve weeks. Honest conversation. Hard questions. Now it lands here, one sentence that defines how you will live going forward.
What is a personal why?
A personal why is a one-sentence mission statement, a guiding statement for your life. Everything else should flow from this statement. It is not a goal or a resolution. It is the answer to the deepest question: why am I here, and how will I live?
Simple language. Easy to memorize. Driven to impact others. This statement should be so clear that you can recite it when you wake up and when you go to sleep, and it should shape every significant decision you make.
"Impact others by sharing the value and truth of Scripture through my life, my writing, and my speaking." Mike Harvey
Build your why — step by step
Step 1 — Who do you want to impact?
Your family, your community, your team, the next generation, people far from God — who is your person?
Step 2 — How will you do it?
Through your work, your relationships, your gifts, your story, what is the vehicle? Think about what came up over the last 12 weeks.
Step 3 — Why does it matter to you?
What drives you at the deepest level? What threads from your story point toward this?
Your personal why
Using your answers above, write your one-sentence mission statement. Keep it simple. Keep it personal. Make it memorable.
Format to consider: "Impact [who] by [how] through [what]." But let it be yours. Say it out loud. If it doesn't move you, rewrite it.
Share with the group
Each person in the group reads their why aloud. No commentary. No critique. Just listen. Then close in prayer for one another, that each person would have the courage to live the statement they just wrote.
Write any notes from your group's closing session here, reflections, encouragements, commitments.
