Let there be light.
Let there be light.
In Genesis 1, God said “let there be light” to a dark world.
And, “it was good.”
God’s creation of light, is captivating. In a world of darkness, light was created. And, light was good.
After creation, repeatedly throughout the Bible, light is used to describe God. For example, in 1 John 1:5, the Bible says that “God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” God provides light, God is light, and He is good.
We enter each year with areas of life that seem to be clicking on all cylinders, areas of light. They are good.
However, each year we also enter with areas that need change. Areas that are not where they need to be. Areas that have not been tended to. Areas that require focus. Areas of darkness.
This realization of light and dark areas is great news. This ability to recognize the dark areas of our life tells us that we can see the issues in our life and change.
Areas of darkness need the illumination that only God can provide. In fact, we will never be able to change many of the dark areas. They will remain dark unless God intervenes. When God takes hold of the darkness, things change. When He says “let there be light,” it is good, it is peaceful, it is as it should be. God, “let there be light” in the dark areas of our lives.
A simple 15-minute reading of Genesis 1 gives us a profound truth, God is light. This truth changes thinking, prayers, and desires. Light equals hope. Imagine this hope happening 365 days a year as one reads the Bible each morning. The hope is new each morning. Imagine the mindset shift, the life shift, that occurs, day-by-day.
We don’t read the Bible, the Bible reads us. God uses His Word to speak, to guide, to understand His will for life. The Bible never gets old, tired, repetitive, or boring. Never does one walk away from God’s Word unchanged, but amazed, challenged, joyful, and hopeful.
We all know the definition of insanity, continuing to do the same thing over and over expecting different results. My prayer is that this journal can give you a different way to start or end each day.
Let there be light.
