Restoration
Restoration brings the old, the tarnished back to newness, freshness, back to life.
Restoration revives what was dead.
In an excruciating book written about the pain of his people, in his closing remarks, the writer of Lamentations writes following.
Restore us to yourself so that we may return. Lamentations 5:22
He doesn’t ask for restoration back to his old way of life. The cry of restoration wasn’t for money or material possessions. He wasn’t crying for his house. Or, a return to his job or a new job. He wasn’t asking to return to a feeling, an emotional state of happiness.
The writer is crying for restoration to God. When He restores, you return to Him.
We all have those areas of life that need to be restored.
Relationships that have cracks. Actions that have caused hurt. Words that have cut.
Areas that need restoration.
And, you can’t restore them. You need the Author. Unless He restores, you labor in vain.
When He restores you, you return to Him. When He restores, there is peace. When He restores, there is healing. When He restores, there is life.
Jesus willingly restores. He just asks that you come.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
