Focus on the External
Silence the internal, focus on the external.
The greatest risk to your team achieving goals is internal battles.
Driven by negative emotions, like fear, anger, and jealousy, internal battles rage within your mind, your family, your team, your organization. Many a team full of talented players is destroyed by internal battles. Self-preservation, gossip, and pride take over the culture.
The external battles are why you play the game.
The competition, the rival, the sales goal, the KPIs, the test. These are the battles that wake up the fire within us, spark creativity, drive unity, and demand our focus. When the team, the family, the company, is rowing in the same direction, unified, mountains can be moved, goals are achieved, and culture is built.
Don’t let the internal battles be a blind spot for you or your team. We can each change the climate.
Great leaders quickly identify and extinguish internal battles, adjusting focus to the external battles, where the war is won.
