Remember to recapture your heart

“Don’t forget in the dark what God showed you in the light.” Adrian Rogers

Ever lose heart? That feeling when the journey becomes dark and uncertain.

Tariffs, consumer headwinds, steep hills to climb, the unknown of the economy, inflation. The obstacles mount and before you know it, you lose heart.

If you lose your heart, you lose hope.

Hope provides fuel for the journey, momentum to build, run, pursue, to be all in after a common goal.

Without hope, one has no passion, complacency and indifference set in, one settles for ordinary.

How does one recapture their heart, their hope?

Remember. Look backward at the prior journey, how God cared, how the team rallied, how the values were lived despite the obstacles.

The OKC Marathon is a run to remember the date of the terrorist attack on the Federal building in 1995 that killed 168 people.

Before the race, the runners gather around the Survivor Tree, an elm tree that survived the blast and stands healthy and tall today. The crowd sings, prays, and remembers. The tree provides hope for the future.

The inscription around the tree reads, “The spirit of this city and this nation will not be defeated; our deeply rooted faith sustains us.”

That moving morning, the runners are reminded that the obstacles presented in life cannot remove their hope for the future. Hope comes from the heart.

A few obstacles have mounted in business this year. And for many, obstacles have mounted in personal lives. The year has not gotten off to the projected start.

Remember to recapture your heart.

Don’t forget in the dark what God showed you in the light.

Impact others. Live generously.
