The grace side of the story
We want to be glorified.
There is an innate desire to be first, to be recognized for one’s accomplishments. I see it in my own life. I see it in my son’s life. In his mind, he is Michael Jordan. One should glorify his talents. In reality he is, well, Grif.
A transparent story of oneself can be twisted into self-glorification. This is the danger of telling your own story. This is the danger of The Anchor. In reality, my story is the same as every believer of Jesus. A story of grace, undeserved complete forgiveness.
His grace humbles. His grace creates thankfulness. His grace creates praise toward him. His grace creates a servant’s heart. His grace delivers peace. His grace removes pressure.
The thing about grace is that you can’t make it happen. It just is. It is delivered as a free gift when you recognize your true self.
And it is fresh each morning.
His mercies are fresh every morning. Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 2:22-2
So, as I tell my story in The Anchor, the beauty is certainly not the writing. It certainly isn’t the life I led or the road I traveled. When you get past the messy stuff, the beauty is the grace that was shown to me.
That is the beauty of anyone’s story, the grace side of the story. Grace that is extended to all. Undeserved, complete forgiveness.
