Swing the mo

Force momentum to change.

Friday night lights (football season in the south).

Late in the first half, down by 10, the star high school QB with the golden arm goes down. Out for the season. Doomsday strikes. The people in the stands create a “sky has fallen” atmosphere. All the usual sayings.

“I knew this would happen.”

“It’s over. There goes the season.”

“I thought we had a shot at the state championship this year.”

The negative energy could have been cut with a knife.

Human nature causes us to naturally focus on what one doesn’t have or what has been lost.

When we compare ourselves to others, we see gaps. We miss our individual secret power.

When we look at the economy, we see risk. When we see the sales target, we see the impossibility of the hill. When we look at the business, we see the strengths of the competition. When we have the bad meeting, all is lost. When we make the error, the career is ruined. When our child has a bad game, day, test, the end is near. You get the idea.

The negative naturally, relentlessly, daily hits every one of us in the face.

Back to Friday Night lights.

Number 2 laces ‘em up. The kid that played on the scout team his whole career. The kid that many said had a talent gap compared to the starter. The kid that was not ready for the situation.

Number 2 jogs on the field with half the stands grumbling. But, number 2 stares down the giant.

He proceeds to throw 3 touchdown passes, the final one a 20-yard strike as time expired. Game over. Legend born.

Those same people that turned the stands negative were now running around the field in celebration, tears coming down faces (football in the south).  Number 2’s personal confidence and belief in his ability swung the momentum.

Monumental obstacles will exist with any good endeavor.

A key person will leave the company, the expense will come out of nowhere, the injury will happen, the meeting will not go as planned, the sickness will appear, the uncontrollables are unlimited.

Be the number 2 that stares the giant in the face and believes.

Be the one that forces momentum to change.

The reality is that the momentum may not change. Things may not go well. The interception may be thrown.

However, it is much better to go down positive than negative, right? I guess that is up for debate.

The negative is coming today. Swing the mo. Others will follow.

Impact others. Live generously.
