Create momentum

“Competitive golf is played mainly on a five-and-a-half-inch course… the space between your ears.” Bobby Jones

The more I learn about myself, the more I realize that the game of life is played between the ears.

What is going on in my mind creates a current of momentum.

Those random thoughts when your mind relaxes, job, kids, marriage, money, future, God, work, drive momentum, drive the momentum of your life.

And, they are pretty much uncontrollable.

When you think about your list of random thoughts, if you are anything like me, the thoughts are on number one. My future. My marriage. My happiness. My direction. My work. My, my, my.

Because of these thoughts, the momentum of life naturally becomes about me.

When life is about me: Impatience reigns. Power and position matter. Free time is yours. Money is a means to find personal joy. Comparison is a game to win. You believe people are against you.

And, reality often takes a back seat. Along with blessings.

How do you stop the flow of the “me” thoughts?

Maybe meditation, reading, exercise. Not sure, but I what found works for me.

I was asked recently why I read the Bible. I could give a lot of answers, but I discovered a reason this morning. I cannot read Scripture and focus on myself. The Words naturally, purposefully, cause me to focus on others and God.

The spotlight is removed from me. And, my flow of thoughts change. My life momentum changes.

I so agree with Bobby Jones. The game of golf and the game of life is played in the space between your ears.

Figure out how to manage your thought life and change the momentum of your life.

Impact others. Live generously.
