Move slowly

Move through the crowd slowly.

I heard a testimony from a wise man about one of his mentor’s, a man that left a legacy of impacting others. He said the one thing that struck him about his friend was the way he “moved through the crowd slowly.” It took him forever to move through a crowded room. When in a conversation or when people walked up to him, he stopped, listened, and entered their world. He was completely present, with compassion for people. He always had time to connect.

What a great way to do life, “moving through the crowd slowly.”
Practically, “moving through the crowd slowly” means grabbing that coffee with a friend on a week that is too busy. Maybe pausing, making that phone call to someone that came to mind. Taking your spouse to dinner for reconnection. Stopping and being with your child in the moment. “Moving through the crowd slowly” means focusing on others versus yourself.

As we are now in full sprint in the new year, we have a lot to accomplish, many people to meet. We grind, work efficiently, maximize time.

May the tasks at hand not become greater than the people involved. May we always have an ear open to listen with compassion, connect, and be in the conversation.

Let our legacy be one of “moving through the crowd slowly.”

May we decrease, and God increase.

Impact others. Live generously.

Scripture, Luke 8:16-18
