There is one thing that every one of us wants in life.

Peace.

But, it is incredibly elusive. Fear seems easier to find.

A study of the stock market’s fear index, called VIX, shows the trend over the first quarter heading up. Similarly, the CNN fear and greed index has us in the “extreme fear” section. When the S&P 500 falls, both of these indices suffer. However, one quick turn in the market, and both of these gauges turn north.

Seems a lot like life doesn’t it?

Both of the “fear gauges” mirror life. Up and down. Highs and lows.

We all have that place of fear, uneasiness that can wreak havoc. To fear is to be human. Maybe loss of money or job, life, death, sickness, how you are perceived, the crashing market, war, the presidential election, the future, you name it, and we fear it.

Fear lives in the shallows, but peace is found in the depths.

Peace can be found in your “why.”

Your “why” is your north star. Your “why” is your personal mission. Your “why” is what drives you. Your “why” is your reason.

Centering yourself on your “why” during the crisis, the storm, or even the blessings, centers your soul.

A great way to start the day is grounding yourself on your “why.” Why am I doing what I am doing?

Your “why” is your path to peace.

Let your “why” be about others.
