A View from the Leader

Arguably the great leader whoever lived. Called the most humble man on the face of the earth, he had direct access to God. He led millions, some estimate 3 million, out of slavery in Egypt through the desert to Canaan. The journey should have taken 11 days, but, due to unforeseen circumstances, the path led to the wilderness, where he led the people 40 years. An 11-day victory march to the promised land turned into a brutal 40-year walk through the desert. His leadership guided the people through division of the people, major victories, defiance of the people that led to death, misery, miracles, and much more events that only the best leader could handle. The man was Moses.

How valuable this insight would be to people in the world today! Think about it. A smooth march of miracles to the promised land turned to a life misery camping in the desert for 40 years. Through a turn of events, Moses and the people unexpectedly found themself in the wilderness. They had to switch gears, learning to live in a barren land with no comfort versus the expected plentiful surroundings.

The lessons of the Moses and his time leading the people in the wilderness offer wisdom for all in the world today. Inevitably, we will all end up in the wilderness at some point in our life. Whether it be a mass arrival, led by events such as 9/11 or Covid-19, or a personal arrival, driven sickness or emptiness, we will all arrive in the wilderness at some point.
