To be Valued, Create Value
Value is created by the creation of something greater than the original investment.
Do you feel valued? A great question, of course. We all want to be valued, and that is certainly key to flourishing personally.
But isn’t our ultimate goal to create value for the company and in our relationships with others?
Rather than putting the light on myself, measuring if I personally feel valued, I should turn the question to others.
Am I creating value?
In your company, make your contribution to the organization greater than what you pull out. Steward with excellence. Drive to results. This is value creation.
From a culture standpoint, create unity in the hallways, at the coffee pot, in every conversation. Be the one people go to. This is value creation.
In every relationship, measure your value by your creation. Be the light, be the encourager, be the listener. Let grace be at the tip of your tongue. This is value creation.
Then, most will find that value is reciprocal.
When you create value, you will be valued in the company, in the culture, in relationships.
Even if the creation of value is not reciprocal in your case, creating value makes your conscience clear. Stewardship provides sound sleep.
A great question to ask myself today: In every area of life, am I creating value?
