Reflection Drives Gratitude
An unsustainable pace can cause one to lose vision. An empty gas tank can cause one to question. An uphill climb can cause one to lose faith. Intense pressure can cause one to feel hopeless.
But daily reflection stirs the soul, recenters, calms the sea.
Reflection makes you realize that it wasn’t brilliance, skill, or even happenstance that helped you arrive at where you are today. Inevitably, everyone is standing on the shoulders of many who paved the way. It is impossible to journey alone.
Reflection helps one recall events that triggered moments in life that brought them to where they stand today. Everyone has those tipping points, conversations, unexplainable and impossible events that happen on the journey that move mountains to get them to where they are today.
Reflection makes you thankful as you realize the gifts, those greater than money or possessions, that are around each day. The pace of life often makes us miss the treasure that is the people in our lives each day. The ones who are standing shoulder-to-shoulder, enduring the pace, the pressure, the intensity, right beside you.
Reflection fills the hole of discontent with thankfulness. Reflection gives one faith for the future. Reflection helps one realize that the journey is much greater than the one moment but, rather, many moments with opportunities to impact others.
And, ultimately, it is gratitude that brings clarity. Thankfulness brings you back to your why. Thankfulness calms the storm. Thankfulness helps you align with your values.
Today, if you are spinning, running at an uncontrollable pace, have an empty gas tank, or climbing the hill, pause to count your blessings. They are many.
Write the note, email, or text thanking another for the impact they had on your journey. Take time to reflect. Keep the grateful journal, making notes of thankfulness each day. Make reflection a tool in your toolkit.
Gaze through the window of thankfulness today, and you will impact others.
