Don’t Glorify Yourself

The single greatest danger to any business, team, culture, or life is man’s desire for glory.

The desire for glory robs the unity of a company, team, marriage.

The desire to glorify oneself can hide within profits, sales numbers, team victories, titles, money, children, performance, posts, faith, you name it.

And the results are catastrophic.

Lack of peace and contentment reign, as glory is addictive. Others are torn down, as one does anything to lift themselves up or look better. And any unity that existed is destroyed.

The cure is to forcefully remove yourself from the picture.

As a practice of my faith, a way to get myself out of the picture is to glorify God. Anything good is from Him. Undeserved.

Just as important: Love others. Build others up. Let others be at the tip of your tongue. If one continually puts others on a pedestal, it is impossible to put one’s own name in lights.

Lay your life down for others this week.

Drive unity, and peace will follow.
