In the depths of perseverance, one builds character, hope, unity. The qualities developed during the rough sea will prepare one for the future storm.
When you are in the foxhole with someone, fighting, clawing, grinding, you leave the foxhole with a deep togetherness. You can look in each other’s eyes and know with confidence you have the will, the fortitude to handle the future.
Two people married for fifty years have withstood the test of time, infinite storms. When they look into each other’s eyes, they see something different from what the outside world sees. They see the battles, the pain, the celebration they experienced together. It is their perseverance through the rough sea that gives them deep unity and trust for the future.
The same is true for a company, a team, a friendship. The longer you persevere together through the storms, the greater the trust, the unity, the dependence, the will to win. The battle-tested ship is ready for the rough sea.
Is the hill you’re climbing steep? Does the sea look impossible to maneuver? Does it feel like the road is never-ending? The power to persevere can be found in the boat with you. The ones looking ahead saying, “Been there, done this.”
