The question

If there is absolute truth that we can hold onto, everything changes. Everything matters. Our soul is settled. We find peace.

If everything is gray, nothing matters. Everything is debated. Our soul is never settled. Peace is never found.

“Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”” John‬ ‭18‬:‭37‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Christ clearly said that He came to testify that what was written in the Old Testament thousands of years before His arrival was true. He was prophecy fulfilled.

The writers of the New Testament took great care to point to prophecy being fulfilled by Jesus. Matthew alone points to the Old Testament five times in the first four chapters of his book. He uses language like, “this was done so that it would be fulfilled.”

The question we each must personally answer, “is it truth?”

If it is, life must be filtered through the lens of the Bible. Work must be filtered through the lens of the Bible. Relationships must be filtered through the lens of the Bible. Marriage must be filtered through the lens of the Bible. Church, music, preaching must be filtered through the truth of God’s Word. News must be filtered through God’s Word.

Everything changes if it is true.

Many years ago, Zig Ziglar was asked if he was afraid to fly after 9/11? His response was around the certainty of God and His Word. He said that God knew how many days “ole Zig” would be on the earth. He was in control.

Comfort. Peace. Certainty.

Get the answer to the question settled. Is it true or not?

Then, let the truths of the Bible guide your life. Point others to the truth. And, find purpose.
