Grace is greater
Grace is greater than missed expectations.
Entrepreneurs start a business with ridiculous optimism. Every great athlete is extremely confident in their ability. Marriages are going to be pure bliss. The new job is the answer.
Optimism naturally reigns. Missed expectations can shatter hope.
For an entrepreneur, maybe the company doesn’t turn out as envisioned. The marriage is not perfect. The relationship with another becomes broken. People let you down. The demands of the new position erode life outside of work. The solid plan is eroded overnight due to an unforeseen issue.
It wasn’t supposed to be like this.
Missed expectations take root in one’s mind. The past is replayed. Peace is evasive because of the “failure.” Before the first cup of coffee is finished, the “what if” question comes to mind. Hope and risks leave, apathy and complacency set in.
Missed expectations are inevitable. The perfect life plan will never come to fruition.
The answer to missed expectations is radical grace. Grace for yourself. Grace to others. Be quick to say, “I’m sorry.”
Grace can fill the deepest hole of regret, the biggest miss, the most flawed relationship.
Life happens. Let grace happen along with it.
Be optimistic, but let grace be at the tip of your tongue when missed expectations arise.
