Control the narrative
Control the narrative or the narrative controls you.
There is a picture, a story that we all tell of others. And, there is a story that others tell about you. Left to the imagination of the storyteller, the truth may not exist.
Be your own storyteller. Show up, be visible, do the work, and tell your story. No narrative is more compelling than results.
But, there is a more critical, powerful story than what others tell about you. It is the story that you tell yourself, the story that rattles around your mind all day. This is the story that can move mountains or be crushed by them.
When the sea is smooth, the story is positive, powerful, hopeful, full of momentum. When the water turns choppy, the narrative has the tendency to change to negativity, dismay, anxiety, hopelessness. Others are impacted by the story.
When you enter each day, the narrative begins, so find moments to control the story in your mind. A friend has a thankful book where he writes down what he is thankful for each day. Meditation calms the sea, fills the soul. Exercise clears the mind. Have a person or community of transparent, truth tellers.
If you control the narrative each day, you’ll be able to endure any sea.
Impact others. Live generously.
