Luke 17:12 – 19 – And as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance and lifted up their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” When he saw them he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went they were cleansed. Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice; and he fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus answered, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?” And he said to him, “Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well.
Ten men came to Jesus. All ten had leprosy. All ten fighting a terminal disease. All ten in pain. All ten living in shame. All ten excluded from society. All ten had certainly tried everything to be cured. All ten knew that there was nothing they could do. All ten were desperate. All ten recognized they need mercy. All ten came to Jesus to ask for help. All ten received compassion. All ten were healed. All ten went away a new person.
One returned to praise Jesus. One fell at his feet. One came back to thank him. One recognized the undeserved grace that he had been given.
We have all dealt with our own leprosy. We have all been put in situations, dealt with things completely out of our control. But, God showed grace.
Recognize His grace. Thank you for the cross.
