There is an Answer to Division
The world is divided as it has ever been in my lifetime. Democrat vs Republican. Red vs. Blue. BLM vs blue. COVID-19 division. You name the issue in society and there is division. We take sides, dig in our heels, and battle. We need grace and understanding, but we have anger, frustration, fear, exasperation, anxiety, ridicule, pride, sarcasm, and all around hatred.
But, look closely, and we see that we are all the same. We are all full of sin. Man is full of selfish desires. In our hearts, we may believe we are pure, but we are all part of fallen humanity. The one writing this blog knows this better than anyone about himself.
There is only one answer. There is only one absolute truth. Every other road will lead to division. But, don’t take my word for it. Look at history. The Bible, the best history book ever written, clearly gives us this picture. Biblical literacy, God’s Word, can be our guiding light.
About 3,000 years ago, kings over the Judean land were required to study the Bible, know the Bible, and lead using these principles. This was a direct command to hold the position, a key piece of ruling the land. And, in Kings and Chronicles, the Bible lays out a clear picture of the correlation between peace in the land and a King following the Law (the Bible).
If a king followed God, the commands of the Bible, there was peace in the land. However, if a king followed his own ways, there was mass anarchy, no peace, wars, assassinations, even child sacrifice. All hell seemed to break loose when the king left the Bible.
Check this out. God’s promised land was divided into 2 countries, Israel and Judah. Israel and Judah had about 40 kings between them over a period of about 200 years. All leaders, except about 6 of the kings, turned from the Law, were evil, and led depending on their own views of the world. During this period, you read about 5 or 6 assassinations, wars, crazy times. Finally, the land was overtaken by a foreign country.
However, during the reign of the 5 or 6 kings that followed God’s commands, there was peace, security, and unity. Little to no war. A stark contrast from the leadership of the kings that followed their own ways, depended on their own leadership.
Wise King Solomon said that there is nothing new under the sun. If you look closely at our world, it is evident. I have no answers. Man has no answers. Only God has answers, and they are all given to us in His Word.
