Magnify God
Swing thoughts for a Saturday.
Magnify God. Said differently, glorify God. This is the call, the purpose, the main objective of life for any believer of Christ.
How does one magnify God?
How we speak.
- My lips will glorify you. Psalm 63:3
- Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. Colossians 4:6
- Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. James 3:5,6
How we act.
- In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16
- So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God— even as I try to please everyone in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved. 1 Corinthians 10:31-33
By living your faith.
- We magnify God when we see the faith of others. When we see someone with strong faith walking through difficult times, we naturally magnify God. Questions are asked, like “how did they make it through that” or “how are they dealing with that situation?” When the answer is faith, God is magnified, as He is the giver of faith. Faith magnifies God and has a domino effect as others begin to magnify Him. And, the faith of one that lives by faith strengthens his own faith.
- No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God. Romans 4:20
- They only heard the report: “The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.” And they glorified God because of me. Galatians 1:23, 24
Who do you magnify with your life?
I believe there are only 2 answers, oneself or God.
