Expect the Wind to Change
“We tend to measure performance by what happens when things are going well. Yet how people, organizations, companies, leaders, and other things do on their best day isn’t all that instructive. To find the truth, we need to look at what happens on the worst day.” Farnam Street
When the wind is at your back, strategies are genius, faith is strong, worry is nonexistent, confidence is high, the team is unified, and the future is bright.
But the wind will shift.
When the wind is in your face, strategies suddenly have gaps, faith evaporates, stress rises, team members are at fault, and the future is bleak.
How do you keep steady, no matter the wind?
Remember.
When facing the wind, remember the previous journey. Let the past give you hope and confidence in the future.
When you have the momentum of the wind, remember that there are seasons. Ride the wave and prepare for the eventual shift.
Wind shifts are a gift. They act as a governor of our pride. If there is no shifting of the wind, greed and complacency will take over.
Be a leader who is steady, no matter the direction of the wind.
No doubt, someone in your circle has the wind in their face today. Help them remember.
