Live in Debt
If you want to live freely, learn to live in debt.
“Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs that he was doing. But Jesus on his part did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people and needed no one to bear witness about man, for he himself knew what was in man.” John 2:23-25 ESV
The people saw the signs that He was doing, but Jesus didn’t trust them. He knew their hearts. He did not open their eyes to the truth that He was the Messiah.
But, Jesus trusted you. He entrusted you with the truth. He opened your eyes to the truth. What a privilege.
Because He has entrusted me with the truth, I willingly, joyfully, optimistically live in debt to Jesus.
Live in debt!
To live in debt is to pursue Him.
To live in debt is to love Him.
To live in debt is to recognize Him in everything that goes on in your life.
To live in debt is to allow Him to lead.
To live in debt is to truth Him.
To live in debt is to love others.
To live in debt is to open my life up to Him.
To live in debt is to follow Him.
Everyone lives in debt to something in their lives. Debt owns the individual.
You may live in debt to fear, always concerned about things to come or what might happen. You may live in debt to money, trying to fill the emptiness with things and trips and comfort. You may live in debt to the desire to be glorified by others, trying to lift yourself up by what others think of you. You may live in debt to your job, running on the treadmill to maintain your quality of life.
Flip the script.
The call is to live in debt to Christ. He entrusted you.
Living in debt to Christ is the only way to freedom.
And when life is lived freely in debt, others are impacted.
Impact others. Live generously.
