Should I stay or should I go?

What would you say is the most vital character trait?

At lunch one day, a young, talented leader asked my opinion on if he should stay in his current role or jump ship to take an elevated position.

As we talked about his current position, he was a bit frustrated that a promotion and elevated title was delayed at his current company.

We reviewed each opportunity, and then we tackled one important question. Do you trust your leader at your current company? His answer was an emphatic “absolutely,” and so, with that answer, we both knew his decision was made.

Trust is hard to find. Integrity trumps money, position, power.

There is no grey area with trust. You either do or you don’t. It isn’t conditional. There is no spectrum of integrity. A person has it or not. Again, it isn’t conditional.

Follow trust and integrity. Ride shoulder-to-shoulder with those you trust in your career.

And give, as you receive.

Impact others. Live generously.
