The Light
The amazing light.
At home, I tend to wake up early, grab a cup of coffee, and, so that I don’t wake up the house, in complete darkness, I walk the obstacle course to my office desk. Many times, I step on a dog toy, spill my coffee, and lose my religion, before reaching the light switch of the lamp on my desk. Flipping on the light, the view immediately changes. I see clearly the path I just walked, the toy I stepped on, and my dogs rolling their eyes at me.
The light reveals to me what once was hidden.
Similar to the walk to my office each morning, such is the journey of life. It is dark.
In darkness, paths are hidden. Confusion tends to set in. Decisions are blindly made. Division reigns.
But, Christ claims that He is the Light of life.
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
From John 1 throughout Scripture, Jesus is described as the Light.
If this is true, what an incredible gift.
A light switch in life to reveal the path you need to take, the decision you need to make, the person you need to help, the prayer you need to pray, the friend you need to make, the sin you need to bury.
The tendency is for all of us to stumble in the darkness.
But, we have the light at our disposal. All we have to do is turn it on.
He really is the Light of Life. He reveals that which is good. He gives purpose. He directs steps. He gives grace. He removes pressure. He is the answer.
I write this blog at 6am in the middle of the casino bar in Las Vegas. I am here often for work, and I find myself drawn to coming down early in the morning to read God’s Word. I get looks and have some great conversations.
I am no different than any of those around me this morning. No judgement from me, as I know me. I am human. I am only here because God flipped on the light for me with his grace one day. I am eternally grateful.
The amazing light of Christ. Just turn it on today.
Others will be impacted and you will be too.
Impact others. Live generously.
