Return
Returning reconciles relationships.
Returning is the act of going back to somewhere you have been. Taking the long road back to where the mistake was made, the conversation happened, the division started.
Returning shows humility. Only the humble are broken enough to go back.
Returning displays love. If one returns, one deeply cares.
Returning is courageous. Only the brave are willing to revisit.
Returning displays the desire for unity. Division fights returning.
And, returning creates unity, depth of relationships, and soothes the soul of he one who is returning.
I think we have all said, “I wish I could go back.” For some things, we simply can’t. However, for many relationships, we can. The act of returning is waiting on us to move.
Yesterday, I bumped into a friend in the middle of a busy trade show floor. In the midst of the crowd, he told me the story of his son returning. As a dad, he received his son back with open arms. Dad’s always do, often with tears in their eyes.
But, sometimes the returner is refused. In fact, we have all probably harbored resentment and a deaf ear toward the returner. We are all human.
But, life is short. Let the fear of refusal never stop the act of returning. And, if we have refused, let us be the one that returns.
Returning is the reason I am drawn to meditation with God. He never turns a deaf ear to returning. In fact, returning is the key theme, the truth of His Words.
As, ultimately, returning provides the opportunity to show grace.
And, grace is the greatest act of God and humanity.
We all have that relationship. Be the one that returns today.
Impact others. Live genoursly.
