The Wonderful Counselor
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 ESV
Counselors are an incredible gift.
But, what good is a counselor if you never visit them?
We have been given the free gift of the Wonderful Counselor.
And, just like earthly counseling, they don’t happen in public, in the congregation. Just like great earthly counseling, His counseling sessions are alone with you.
At these sessions, one simply opens the Bible and reads.
I did not discover the treasure of the Wonderful Counselor until I was 26. At age 26, I began sessions with the Wonderful Counselor every morning. He radically transformed my life. I am who I am today because of these morning sessions.
Just like earthly counseling, I wasn’t changed in one session, not that He can’t change in one session. But, over and over, I met with Him. He changed the way I acted, the way I viewed the world, and my purpose in life. He gave me joy and what I needed most – peace.
This Counselor, these sessions, are available to us all, a free gift. He stands at the door and knocks, desiring each of us to sit down with Him.
There is no requirement on when to read, how much to read, or how long to read. Five minutes, 10 minutes, one verse, one chapter, whatever. He calls us not to focus so much on the rules of how we spend time with Him, but, rather, focus on Him.
These counseling sessions are the greatest gift to man. And, most will live their whole life without this free help.
Visit the Counselor, today, tomorrow, and forever. Give Him time and see if He doesn’t change your life. We all need changed lives, every day. Taste and see that the Lord is good.
It is never too late to start. Just open the book of John and start reading.
Impact others. Live generously.
